violinist
Sanhayea is a violinist from South Korea. She began playing piano at the age of 3, and the violin at the age of 6. She performed as a soloist with the Prime Philharmonic orchestra, the Seoul tutti chamber orchestra, and the Bucheon youth string orchestra. She won first prizes and gold medals at many national competitions as a soloist and a chamber musician.
While studying in Europe, Sanhayea performed for 5 years at Matinee concerts; music events broadcasted by Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF). She was invited to perform as a soloist with the Youth Symphonic Orchestra of Carinthia and with the Chamber Academy. She was also invited to play Charity Solo Recital (Night of Maurice Ravel) in Köttmannsdorf/Austria and the concert at Festival Bled/Slovenia. She graduated from the Gustav Mahler Private University of Music (GMPU) with high distinction.
Sanhayea continued her journey in California, where she earned Graduate Certificate at the USC Thornton school of music. She studied under the tutelage of Prof. Glenn Dicterow (former concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic). During her studies, she received the Merit-based Scholarship and Ensemble Award. As a student instructor, Sanhayea gave violin lessons and chamber music coaching to students at the USC.
Sanhayea enjoys playing in orchestra. Her orchestra experience from childhood led her to participate in diverse orchestra projects. She was a member of the Bucheon youth string orchestra, where she gained her first experiences as a concert master. During her studies, Sanhayea performed as a concertmaster and 2nd violin principal in symphony/chamber orchestras. Since 2017, she has been working as a substitute player in SNG Maribor orchestra, Slovenia. In 2021, Sanhayea performed in Korean-Austrian Philharmonic orchestra as a concertmaster.
Sanhayea is very interested in performing piano as well. As a pianist, she was invited to perform Brahms, Haydn and Mendelssohn Piano Trios in Lesachtal, Schloss Albeck, Ossiach in Austria and Rogaška Slatina in Slovenia. In 2015, Sanhayea received the award for exemplary cooperation with the soloist at Slovenian National Competition (TEMSIG). Sanhayea shares her music on piano at recitals, chamber concerts and studio classes.
Sanhayea actively improves her technical skills, knowledge, and interpretations of music. She received mentoring in masterclasses and private lessons with great musicians, such as Ivry Gitlis, Ralph Kirshbaum, Philippe Graffin, Johannes Meissl, Karen Dreyfus, Lisa Kim, Eduard Kutrowatz, Stefan Mendl, Christoph J. Eggner, Lina Bahn, Kevin Fitz-Gerald, Alan L. Smith, Helfried Fister, Milos Mlejnik, and others.
Sanhayea is currently pursuing Master´s degree under the tutelage of Prof. Christian Altenburger at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna (mdw).
